Streams in the Desert is an holistic approach to mental health care addressing the whole person in the healing process. Care is provided by Pamela Hakima Mumby, Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, who incorporates psychotherapy, medication management, spiritual guidance, lifestyle counseling, and medical issues in addressing the needs of her clients. She is skilled at working with adults who have mood and anxiety disorders, and has a special interest in working with persons who have a history of trauma and/or who are going through a spiritual crisis.

As part of the initial visit, clients receive a psychiatric evaluation and medication, if needed, can be prescribed.  The relationship between therapist and client is collaborative with both agreeing on the treatment plan and type of therapy provided. In this model of care, the therapist serves as a consultant with the client maintaining control regarding type of treatment. In addition to psychotherapy, Pamela Hakima is skilled at helping clients recognize and utilize their spiritual resources in the healing process, as appropriate to the client, regardless of their faith background.
